Tired of filling in the yards by hand?

In ConCal you draw the slab and the yards, steel, labor and margin fill in themselves. Then the customer gets a proposal they can sign.

How to use this estimate template

Start at the top of the job and work down. The lines are in the order the work happens: concrete, base, steel, forms, labor, then the finish. The boxes are empty on purpose. Use your plant's price, your supply house's price and your crew's hours.

  1. Get the yards first. Everything else hangs off them. The concrete calculator does slabs, and the cost calculator adds your plant's fees.
  2. Put the steel in sticks, not feet. Laps add more than you think. The rebar calculator counts them for you.
  3. Price labor in hours. Hours times your loaded rate, not just the wage. Workers comp, payroll tax and the truck all cost you per hour.
  4. Add overhead, then profit. Overhead covers the shop, insurance and the time you spend bidding jobs you don't get. Profit goes on top of that. They are not the same number.
  5. Print it, or save it as a PDF and text it to the customer. It saves on this device as you type, so you can come back to it.

Overhead and profit, worked out

Say the job cost comes to $6,000. At 10% overhead that is $600 more, $6,600. Then 15% profit on $6,600 is $990, so the bid is $7,590. Putting profit on the job cost alone would have left $90 on the table, and on every job after it.

No. Every price box starts empty, because the only price that is right for your bid is yours: your plant, your supply house, your crew.
Concrete with plant fees and pump, base and prep, steel, forms, labor in hours, the finish and extras like saw cuts and sealing, then overhead and profit. Leaving any of them out comes out of your pocket.
